Protecting the condition of an instrument is about addressing problems as they come up, in addition to keeping it safe and clean. Having a violin, viola, or cello regularly checked over by a professional is a good idea, especially for older instruments.

Restoration and Repair

Thoughtful, precise workmanship can mend virtually any damage to an instrument, restoring it to beautiful playing condition. Preserving the intent of the maker, and the character of an instrument, are just as important to me as finding the best possible tone and playability.

Sound Adjustment

No amount of tinkering will fundamentally change the voice of a violin, but proper alignment of the setup can have an enormous impact on the strength and clarity of the sound, as well as the playability of the instrument. This is typically done by adjusting the sound post and bridge, but can also involve the neck, fingerboard, tailpiece, and other elements.
